Growing up I don’t really fancy wearing dresses. I’m a t-shirt/shorts kinda gal and I always, always go for comfort rather than style. Local streetwear brand Roots Est. 2014 perfectly fits my personality: unique, hip and a creature of comfort.
I learned about RE14 a couple of months ago in a startup mixer wherein I got to know owner Josef Singson and what their brand is all about.
Roots Est. 2014 is an independent streetwear label aimed to aid up-and-coming artists to find their way into the local industry by placing their hand-drawn designs on apparel through computer generation. The brand eventually expanded into a full-fledged collaborative streetwear line after working with much talent in the industry.
The label now produces its own original collections for both Spring/Summer and Holiday seasons along with occasional quickstrike capsule collections throughout the year.
Staying true to its mission, the brand aims to empower creatives through industrial opportunity and works towards becoming a proactive leader in wearable art appreciation and quality design through meticulous curation and collaborative creation.
The brand kinda reminded me of FMCC, proudly Pinoy and supports local artists. I wore them when I recently went to Korea and it feels good to wear something 100% Pinoy while in a foreign land, not to mention it was so hot and humid in Seoul and wearing a comfy shirt is just the way to go.
